Description

The Beacon House is a fully finished, open concept space located on the second floor of a popular Wellington family restaurant. It is the first time this space has been opened up to the public and it has the most stunning water views! The property is a short walk to restaurants, grocery store and boutique shopping. It is also a short drive from the Hillier region wineries.

You can see the Sandbanks and Sand Dunes from the balcony (but you will need a car to get there). There is no access to the back yard and therefore NO BBQ. There is a lovely balcony for you to use during your stay! Watch boats sail by in the harbour. The bird life here is amazing.
 
The house comes all set for your use, beds are made and towels are in each bathroom.

Guest access

Guests have access to the entire second level, 3200 square feet of space! As well as the second floor balcony. The restaurant has the entire main level of the property and so The Beacon has no outdoor lawn space or water access. There is a public beach within walking distance as well as a park!

The restaurant on the main floor is NOT associated with The Beacon...during your stay, kindly direct any questions or concerns to the phone numbers provided.

The neighbourhood

Located in Wellington, the heart of Prince Edward County. Within walking distance of some great eateries, beaches, art galleries and parks. There is a family restaurant located on the main floor of Beacon House and we are situated right next to the Bait Shop Marina (so bring your boat!), The Good Place (vegetarian emporium) and Tim Horton's is a short 3 minute walk up the road.

Getting around

You will need a car if you want to explore PEC. There is no transit system and although there are taxis, they can be a bit elusive.

Other things to note

This house is located above a family restaurant, which is open from noon until 10pm-ish. It's NOT a bar/club/loud place but there will be the associated hustle and bustle of a restaurant. There are only 3 parking spaces available for this property but parking is available off site (please inquire). There is no BBQ with this rental (nor ability to bring your own) and no smoking of any kind on the deck or inside the house. A $250 fine will apply if restaurant reports smoking or evidence is discovered after your stay.

Property
The Beacon is a large, well-appointed space that could easily accommodate our group of 11 adults. We were thrilled with the huge living space, the open kitchen and long dining table, and the comfortable beds throughout. Christine was helpful and available to answer our questions. This is an ideal spot for a large group staying in PEC. We were a nice walk away from restaurants and galleries in Wellington, and the large balcony overlooking the water was lovely to enjoy the evenings. The place is obviously just renovated and the kitchen is well-stocked with dishes and small appliances. Since we were coming from various locations to meet here (Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto), it was helpful to have ample parking on site and more parking nearby. The restaurant below was not a problem in terms of noise, although at night the large fan from the restaurant kitchen was audible in the back bedrooms. All in all, The Beacon is a great spot for a large group and we will definitely seek to rent it again when we come back to the county.

The space was perfect to host 10 women for a wine country get away. We had a yoga class and had enough space to comfortably do yoga over looking the yoga. Loved the space and the weekend!

Property
This place is amazing! We had a group of 10 people and for most of us, it was our first time in the County. This place was super spacious and provided a great, comfortable introduction to the area. Christine is a wonderful host who was always quick to respond to any inquiries we had. Without a doubt, I would recommend this place for any larger groups!

Rental Conditions

This is a non-smoking property. No smoking of any kind inside OR on the deck.  A fine of $250 will apply as there is a restaurant downstairs that adheres to non-smoking regulations where people are eating. Smoking is allowed in the parking lot where there are ash cans provided.

Children Allowed: Yes
Pets Allowed: NO
Maximum Occupancy: 18 (sleeps 12 in beds and 2 on sofa bed) - for groups greater than 12, numbers must be confirmed with owner and guests are charged $100 per person per stay up to max 18. These guests must furnish own travel mattress, bedding and towels.

Year Round: Minimum 2 night booking, except for holidays which require 3 nights

Not suitable for pets

There is a list of "House Rules" in an information booklet in the foyer. Owners ask that you respect the neighbors and the restaurant downstairs.

Please complete the check out checklist before you leave. In terms of tidiness, leave the house how you found it. The cleaners will do laundry and clean floors etc.

Travel time to wineries: <10 mins by car or rent bikes from Ideal Bike in Wellington
Restaurants within walking distance as well as a great park with kid's play structures overlooking Lake Ontario. Bring a picnic and enjoy the day.
